Things to remember BEFORE filing.

THE COURT WILL ONLY ACCEPT SINGLE SIDED PAGES [WHITE PAPER BLACK INK].

You want to be clear on your focus and what is required to avoid wasting time and energy on impulsive and rushed efforts.

STOP- BREATHE, FOCUS and work out a plan you can stick to.

DO NOT FALL INTO THE TRAP OF IMAGINING COURT IS THERAPY AND WRITING YOUR MEMOIRS TO THE COURT- THE JUDGES HONESTLY DON’T CARE AND WON’T READ IT.

You need to be clear, concise and focus on dot points.

For initial filing [first time] we recommend using the ministry of Justice Templates to avoid excuses not to accept them [note on most court documents it does not have the Maori name of the location under the English version which is a legislative requirement for filing- write this in to avoid having it thrown out.]

Simply look up the court and the Maori translation is next to it:

In order to file effectively you want to:

  1. Know what you need to file
  2. Have all of the documents required.
  3. Be prepared with a fee waiver or to pay the filing cost
  4. Make sure after you have a sworn or affirmed affidavit you scan a copy of all documents for your personal records and for the courts to avoid originals “going missing.” [this might seen time consuming but it will safe you time in the long run as a protective measure to avoid delays.]
