Mental Health Hub:

In order to thrive in any court proceedings you must survive. Self care and mental health are essential for your safety and success. YOU NEED TO PRIORITIZE YOUR HEALTH AND WELL BEING BEFORE YOU CAN RESPOND TO COURT PROCEEDINGS IN AN EFFECTIVE WAY.

YOU ARE NOT ALONE- EVERY PROBLEM HAS A SOLUTION AND WE ARE COMMITTED TO CONNECTING EVERYONE IN NEED WITH A LIFE LINE THAT WILL HELP THEM.

Everyone responds to trauma differently, and no two instances are the same, for this reason, we strongly recommend people reach out to trusted health professionals for guidance and tailored programs to suit your specific needs to help you cope and adapt to the stress you will endure as you progress through any court proceedings and subsequent decisions.

Suicide prevention remains a serious issue that needs to be acknowledged and openly addressed, as seen in a recent article published October 2023:

Acting director of the Suicide Prevention Office Dr Sarah Hetrick said suicide had a devastating impact on whānau and reducing the rates required a government-wide response that addressed structural determinants such as poverty, racism, discrimination and post-colonial legacy.

“We also need to reduce exposure to factors that increase the risk of suicide such as violence of all types, alcohol-related harm, stand-down and exclusion from schools and harmful communication about self-harm and suicide.”

Ponsonby Chambers firmly believes a large contributing factor to suicide and self harm [inclusive of alcohol and drug abuse] in New Zealand and beyond, is caused by the stress and uncertainty of court, particularly family court, which is why we are combining solutions and resources for mental health in addition to [almost as a prerequisite for] resources for safe and effective legal representation, to avoid feeling overwhelmed and hopeless.

Every problem has a solution- keep calm, stay grounded and ensure you are able to process your grief, trauma and stress in a safe and manageable way to regulate and then be able to respond rationally for you and your families best case outcome.

Ponsonby Chambers founder is a health and fitness professional with over 19 years of industry experience who has tailored specific programs prioritizing mental health and well being in an affordable and realistic way- which are available to download and begin working through at your own pace in your own time, all of which have been trialed and tested to verify their effectiveness. For those still dealing with the shock and trauma of family court proceedings we especially recommend “The Gain Cycle” .

This is the Founders story of having to compartmentalize and “radically accept” the trauma and shock of court abuse to be able to regulate and survive what for so many, is un-live-able. YOU ARE NOT ALONE- There are solutions to every problem and you will be “okay” BUT YOU NEED TO PRIORITIZE SELF CARE AND REACH OUT TO PEOPLE WHO CAN HELP YOU. YOU NEED TO BE STRONG AND DO THE WORK TO STAY SAFE.

*Shared under s14 NZBORA 1990 and in the interests of public safety to protect others from the same harm and distress- We know Family Court is a significant contributor to suicide statistics in New Zealand and world wide and this is something that must be changed with survivors speaking out to give hope and coping strategies for others*

This is not a “Man V woman” issue. The courts chop and change- outdated beliefs are just that- red ants V black ants games the courts play to divide their “customers”. Credit to Louis Valdez for this succinct summary:

This is parents [mothers and fathers] suffering the legal abduction of their children and having to survive this cruel and inhumane trauma. And the flow on affect of broken homes, legally orphaned children and the societal breakdown that follows, all of which can and should be corrected with regulated systems in place and people being able to speak out about this injustice in a safe and proactive way for the betterment of each child, community and country.
